Derek Olson – “Digital Tigers” (Surgery Mix)

Last week my brother Logan was having his shoulder operated on. While in the waiting room, I was going through my music and got some inspiration. Funny how creativity hits at times like that.

So I sat with my laptop and headphones in a corner of this large waiting room, full of people. The sound of 20 different conversations, and the irritating buzz of mid-morning television. My youngest brother sleeps in the chair next to me, and my parents solve crossword puzzles.

Every once in a while a doctor comes around in scrubs, looking for a certain family.

This song is basically a glitch-rock mashup of two songs by Thrice, “Digital Sea” and “Paper Tigers.”

Have a listen my darlings.

New Album – Everyone Is A Ghost

I just uploaded my new album, so head over to my music page and check it out. It’s a free download so what do you have to lose?

It was a lot of fun making this album. I know you’ll enjoy it. Its got beautiful guitars, processed beats, big synths, and some ambient sounds.

Also used some samples from some of my favorite bands, such as Blue October, Brand New, and At The Drive-In.

Lemme know what you think. Get it here

MadMixMustang – Is This Digital Love?

My computer may be hitting on me…. I stumbled onto this song earlier, and I’ll admit the song is an awesome compilation. It mashes Daft Punk and Bob Marley.
Digital Love…
What could be wrong with that?

In the meantime this song continues repeating in my head.
“I wanna love ya. I wanna hold and squeeze ya. Everyday and everynight”
Love ya to computer

Whize – Marauders

I’m really digging this stuff by Whize. The crackle-sounding synth and the massive beat, then the sound bites and noises. Cool stuff, check it.

Brand New – Daisy

So… How’s it going people?

Brand New.

They have an album arriving Sept. 22nd.

I’ll be getting it. mmmhmm.

Apparently its been leaked for a while, so you can go online and get it now. (Thanks Jimmy)

Get it. Listen.

Spitalfield – “Better Than Knowing Where You Are”

Can you really tell a difference in mp3’s?

The site mp3orot.com will help you decide. It gives you two clips of a song. They are the same clip, but they have been encoded differently. Your job is to decide which one sounds better.

Go ahead try it out. See if  you can pick out the one with better encoding.

What’s up with TFLB?

You may know already, but here I go. I’m going to tell you anyway. I’me in a band called TFLB. Stupid name, huh? Is that what you’re thinking? Well then, you are not a good person. But here is the thing. TFLB stands for something.

Music – The Casket Lottery

Check out The Casket Lottery. I like them for many reasons. One reason would be that they remind me of Coheed and Cambria. I like their lyrics too.

Here’s a little bio straight off Wikipedia:

“The Casket Lottery is a three-piece indie rock band from Kansas City, Missouri. The band started in 1997 as a side-project of the Kansas City hardcore band Coalesce. The band has toured across the United States numerous times (with Reflector, Small Brown Bike, Rocky Votolato, Proudentall, and Limbeck among others), as well as released a healthy amount of records.”

I got their album, ‘Moving Mountains.’ Turned out to be some really good stuff. I will start looking for their 3 other albums, as well as their EPs.
